About The Artist

Born on October 19, 1960, in Casablanca, Driss Assekou is a self-taught painter whose vibrant works capture the beauty of landscapes, seascapes, and still life with an impressionistic touch. After graduating in English Linguistics from University in 1981, he pursued his passion for art independently, mastering various techniques over the years.

Beginning with colored pencils on paper, Driss  later explored pastels and watercolors before transitioning to oil on canvas and wood panels. His art reflects a deep admiration for the great masters of impressionism, particularly Claude Monet and Auguste Renoir, whose influence can be seen in his luminous brushwork and rich color palette.

From bustling scenes of daily life to serene seascapes, and meticulously rendered still lifes, Driss’s  work spans multiple styles—ranging from impressionism to realism. He skillfully employs oil, acrylic , and pencil to bring his visions to life, each piece radiating emotion and vitality.

Through his art, Driss Assekour  invites viewers into a world where light dances across the canvas, and every stroke tells a story. His paintings are a celebration of nature, culture, and the timeless beauty found in the ordinary.
